Re: Formula For COF (Complete Organic Fertilizer)
Any additives such as soft rock phosphate and high calcium lime should be added to a garden in the fall including your compost material. Till into the top 4 inches and let it sit all winter. Only chicken manure should be added in the spring. Till again and let it sit for two weeks. Plant away!

Homeschooling
Does anyone on the forum have experience with homeschooling? Other than stockpiling kids books on the Bible and non kids books on history...I am at a loss here. I know there are on line kits that are available. I am simply uncertain if any would be worth investing in since I am not interested in rai...

Going to have a whack at this topic...
I believe that those on this forum that have been in the military have a "mindset" already in place to readily face the unknown. They approach issues differently than others. Those of us that do not have that knowledge and experience are left with attempting to learn so much in such a smal...

Re: Is Distilled Water Good Or Bad For You?
Water with fresh lemon is very good for detoxing and just for your body over all. Fresh lemon is the only addition to water that will not dehydrate a body. If you drink it all day long everyday though, you would detox heavily. A glass or two a day each day is good. Detoxing is very good to do monthl...

Believe it or not, you can buy a double pack of the large 250 per box or a ten pack of the small boxes at Dollar Tree for $1. That has been my main source since I stumbled onto them there!

Re: breastfeeding
A small glass of beer can often spur milk to return. Women should also drink up to a gallon of water per day to make enough milk. Stress is the number one foe of nursing and often the reason most women will stop nursing since stress is there when you are trying to work with a new little baby. BBJ101...

Re: I have decided to get adn keep some goats
The bucks stink to high heaven and you need to always keep them separate from your does. If raising for meat, castrate any billys. Easy to milk, easy to make cheese, easy to care for does. Will eat your grass to nothing if you don't have enough ground for them. A castrated goat will stay in the yard...

This is the number one problem with any human body today and the beginning of every disease. I worked in a colonics dept of a retreat for a few months once discovered how wide spread this problem is. The people were passing stuff they hadn't eaten in 20 years just caked into their bowels...and never...

I have simply been taking any excess of our excess or less worn clothes or any I can buy at super clearance sales and vacuum packing them. I also now troll the garage sales and am amazed at the amount of material and patterns I have picked up for pennies. I invested in the treadle sewing machine and...

Birthing horses is not easy and you will be sitting up with that mare for nights and days. Sometimes they plop right out but just as often they don't and you get to put your arms down in there and twist that little thing into the right position without pulling its legs off and then assist in bringin...

I have built a fire in it but never used the thing in there. I just open both flues and let er rip! It sucks the heat out of the house so I only use it Christmas morning or an occasional evening. It is easy to start and burns well and fast. Never had a smoke issue. More wiring? Ugh. Well I am still ...

Here are two stoves that I have gone to look at. One is a jotul even though the owner calls it something else. The other is the insert that will burn wood and coal. We have a fireplace with a typical floor level hearth and I looked up there...it is solid brick with no lining. The damper appears to b...

I have stumbled into way to purchase gold that seems to have worked to my benefit and you may want to watch in your area. Freeze Dried Meat
I have not purchased or tasted freeze dried meat to date. The cost is so high and so I am asking if there is value there over canning your own beyond the ease of packing it for travel? I am not even sure how many people could be fed from a #10 can if making a stew or soup? Anyone?
