This is a good idea if you have a place to put it where its out of the way. I have 2 garbage cans and place a smaller one inside the larger can for a double protective Faraday cage.
Stucco houses with chicken wire lath and a metal roof may be a good EMP protector as well as an all metal building such as the Butler agricultural/commercial buildings. Am unsure if EMP can penetrate windows and doors in these structures but I would think it can so I am not 100% convinced these structures are competely safe.
