Dealing with cuts

Post by WillyPete »

I found this bit of good info elsewhere and confirmed it with my wife.
If you get a cut on yourself somewhere, thoroughly clean the cut, keep it open and pack ordinary black pepper into the wound prior to bandaging well. The pepper is a natural antiseptic and will help the wound to close much quicker than on its own.
Those small pepper packs you can obtain at restaurants can be carried in your first aid kit for ready treatment of any cut you may receive.
I did ask my wife, an exceptional nurse, about this and she said this method can be used quite effectively. She also told me that a better antiseptic spice is Turmeric, it's better than pepper at both antiseptic quality and at wound closure.
I have not yet tried this since I haven't gotten cut in quite some time but, if or when I do, I'll apply pepper and see what happens.
Where I found this info the author did say he had done this and his cut healed much faster than any he could remember and he did not have any of the usual irritations he had had before with a cut.
