Sources for tools an dmaterials for a PAW

Post by WillyPete »

I haven't seen much about this here but, does everyone have a supplier for the various type tools and materials that may, and will be needed after TEOTWAWKI?
While numerous people spout nothing but bile and vitriol about these two sources, I have found them both to offer good, decent and quite useful tools for reasonable and sometimes outstanding prices.
They are Harbor Freight Tools and Northern Tool and Equipment. My first encounter with Northern Tool was when I needed a grinder to process a hog I shot one season. Northern Tool had a good 1 HP grinder with numerous accessories for $89.00. I looked around at other retailers and found prices ranging from $229.00 up to $299.00 for essentially the exact same grinder. I bought the $89 Northern Tool grinder and have not regretted it in the least.
I was passing the Harbor Freight distribution center whenever I had to do work in the central northeast area of my state so, I stop in one day to see what they have and I found such deals. Hand and power tools for ridiculous low prices that turned out to be decent quality tools, I got more than my money's worth out of them.
With Harbor Freight, you do have to be judicious with your selections, there are some items that are not worth even considering but, you find those just about anywhere.
Here's the websites:

Got to talking with my students about the different tools we need in our trade to do our job and where we can go to obtain them.
I remembered I buy a lot of tools and gear from Harbor Freight, like I've mentioned earlier, and was telling them I get coupons for price cuts on some items at various times of the year. I went looking for coupons at their website and found several to give to my students so that they can get some more gear to make doing our work easier.
The coupons I found have an expiration date coming up soon but, if you check their website from time to time, you can get several of the current coupons.
Here's the URL to the two pages of coupons they have and there are a few items that can be quite useful for now or later. Take a look:

I'll likely be getting a few more of these items in the near future. I'd better start hiding my wallet when I get near this store!
