trapping

Post by cowboy38229 »

Trapping has been a life long hobby of mine since 1968 when i bought my first long spring trap for $1.25 at the general store . Regardless if your trapping for a hobby or food and clothing, you need to know the cridder your after. Read everything you can get your hands on about the animals you wish to trap.Learn it's habits, where it lives and feeds, learn what kind of track it makes.Go out in the woods ,fields, creek bottoms ,find its tracks and follow them around, see where it goes, what it does ,what it feeds on.
Don't just concentrate on one animal.Rabbit is fine eating for a little while.

Beaver, coon, muskrat are all fine table fare,in a survival situation even possum is eatable. And all of the above make excellent clothing.I'm not talking a beaver skin loin cloth, but a beaver skin coat and muskrat hat sure knocks off the cold.

Survival is knowledge and hard work, don't be scared of either one.
