Dirty rotten skunks!

Post by Toepopper »

I had the biggest blueberries I have ever seen growing on my 3 plants in the garden, went out there early thismorning with a bowl to pick them and they were GONE! Nothing else in the garden had been touched. I did a quick inspection of the perimeter fence and found 3 small holes that had been dug under it. It looks like a family of skunks has figured out how to get under the fence and munch on my beautiful blueberries. We have seen a mother skunk and her 3 little babies roaming the area after dark. What other critter could do this? A bear would wreck the fence and rip up everything. So now I have to cut pieces of fence material, bend it into the shape of an L and wire it to the fence , then stake it down with rebar so nothing can dig under the fence again. I have 310 feet of fence up so this may take a while but it must be done to keep the critters from eating my goodies. I am afraid to use an electric fence at this time of the year for fear of starting a wildfire.
