This informative article was written (about) 2005 - I cant be sure. Carla Emery was a very accomplished writer about preparedness and homesteading. She wrote "The Encyclopedia of Country Living" which is still available (try Amazon). Some of the information here may be dated or superseded but this lady lived the life and walked the walk. Sadly she has passed on to the Maker of us all but I thought you would like to read this. It still has some good information.
